Even though this was filmed before the pandemic, it seemed like the world was pretty f**ked then anyway. VICE’s resident Gen-Z, shit-talking wannabe influencer, Alhan Gençay, camps out with the UK’s premier prepper Tom Lindon who predicts that in six months the majority of people in the UK will be dead.
Tom believes failing to prepare is preparing to fail, so has decided to dedicate his free time to ‘prepping’ for large-scale disasters and catastrophes such as the breakdown of society, civil unrest, nuclear fallout, chemical and biological war, the electromagnetic pulse and even Brexit.
Apart from stocking up on tins of beans, Alhan is looking to skill up, so he immerses himself in the prepping community: learning how to drink dirty water out of a river, building a fire using Vaseline and throwing axes at zombies. While learning how to survive the apocalypse he hopes to discover why these people give a shit about the end of the world so much.
It seems obvious that Tom’s a conspiracy theorist, but with everything that’s happening in 2020, could he be right after all?
