In Asia, most youth grow up believing their feelings are secondary. Things like career, wealth, and familial obligation often take precedence over passion. It’s no surprise that many young Asians repress their emotions—leaving things unsaid, passions abandoned, and creativity stifled.
Moreover, finding contentment and satisfaction can be a never-ending rat race. With every achievement, we seek to accomplish more, and with each success, we strive for more perfection. For singer-songwriter Zee Avi, satisfaction is sometimes out of reach. In a society obsessed with achievement, it’s hard to feel secure in our small victories.
