Located a few minutes away by walk from Kitsuki Castle in the heart of Kitsuki City in Oita, Ohara-Tei is the residential building used during the Edo period to house karo top-ranking officials of the Matsudaira Domain.
Ohara-Tei, as well as the many residences in the same area, used to host many high ranking samurais in the past. Featuring gorgeous thick thatched roof, with beautiful gardens and ample rooms, the Ohara-Tei residence is the embodiment of what used to be a samurai’s house in the past and about their way of live in Oita prefecture. Note that visiting the Ohara-Tei residence and other surrounding houses are free for everyone wearing a kimono!

Situé à quelques minutes à pieds du château de Kitsuki dans le coeur de la ville de Kitsuki à Oita, Ohara-tei est un bâtiment résidentiel utilisé en l’ère Edo pour loger les personnes les plus influentes du domaine de Matsudaira.
Ohara-Tei, tout comme beaucoup d’autres résidences dans cette zone, ont abrité de nombreux samouraïs de haut rang par le passé. Couverte d’un magnifique toit de chaume épais, avec de beaux jardins et de larges chambres, la résidence Ohara-Tei reflète à merveille le mode de vie des samouraïs de la préfecture d’Oita dans le temps. Notez aussi que la visite de la résidence d’Ohara-Tei et des maisons environnantes est gratuite pour tous ceux qui seront vêtu d’un kimono!
