How Fish Heads Are Improving New Zealand

In Auckland, NZ, The Kai Ika Project was created to utilize fish heads, frames and offal which were previously going to waste. Since September 2016, previously discarded fish parts have been collected from the Outboard Boating Club by Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae whanau and redistributed to families and community groups in South Auckland who value these fish parts and can make healthy, nutrient-rich meals out of them.

How Thick Layers Of Restaurant Grease Are Cleaned | Deep Cleaned

Jay Lopez of Cleannex LLC explains how a quarter inch of grease is deep cleaned from a restaurant kitchen exhaust system. He starts at the top of the system, which is the fan, and works his way down to the duct, grease filters, and oven hood. He scrapes and power washes thick layers of grease away from the metal. If a kitchen exhaust system is not cleaned according to national guidelines, a fire can ignite and burn down the building. It’s recommended that these are cleaned every 30 days to six months, depending on the cuisine and frequency of cooking.

Australia’s Own Tiger King: The Obsessive Hunt for Australia’s Lost Marsupial Beast

Tassie tigers, otherwise known as thylacines, were thought to have become extinct after the last known specimen “Benjamin” died in a Hobart zoo in 1936. But new evidence and a growing civilian movement are challenging that belief, with the Thylacine Awareness Group of Australia (TAGOA) boasting 10,000 members Australia-wide.

In this episode of Australiana, we embed with its president, Neil Waters, a retired gardener who commits his life savings to an epic two year search for the ancient marsupial. As Neil edges closer to a tantalising ‘re-discovery’, the search brings him hope and meaning, but we also learn the price of this obsession.

Kiyomizu-dera – Kyoto – 清水寺 – 8K

Located in the heart of Kyoto, Kiyomizu-dera is one of Japan’s most famous and celebrated temples thanks to its iconic 13-meter high wooden stage with a unique view. Founded in 780 on the site of the Otowa waterfall, Kiyomizu-dera literally means, “Pure Water Temple.” It was originally associated with the Hosso sect, one of Japan’s old Buddhism sects until 1965 when it formed its own Kita Hosso sect.

While many prefer to enjoy the wooden structure Kyomizu-dera, its most important aspect, the Otowa waterfall is extremely popular and still available to all. Indeed, the Otowa waterfall is divided into three distinct streams with unique properties; to cause longevity, success at school, and a fortunate love life. Note however that while one could drink from all three streams, doing so is considered greedy.
