‘Disabled not Defeated’, a film by Noisey which was first published in 2020, has been nominated in the ‘Best Short Form Programme’ category at this year’s BAFTA TV awards.

Deeply moving yet warm and unexpectedly funny, this is the story of an eccentric post-punk band made up of adults with learning disabilities, and the events following the devastating death of one of their band members.

Featuring the band’s original music, this observational documentary is a timely and unique insight into the ripple-effect of losing a loved one to suicide, and the vastly different ways in which people grieve.

Filmed over the course of a year, both before and immediately after the tragedy, the film follows the band as they face their grief head-on and turn it into a united strength, self-belief and desire to continue.

A life-affirming celebration of neurodiversity and inclusion, Delta 7 offer a unique look into group dynamics and the refusal to live a life dictated by stereotypes.

Overcoming the seemingly insurmountable, the band speaks to the transformative power of one’s own creativity, and the film tells a compelling tale of resilience and unity in the face of the worst that life can give you.

Former bank robber Cain Vincent Dyer speaks to Insider about his experience, and how bank robberies work.

Dyer served in the United States Marine Corps. He turned to bank robbery after threats to his family by a dangerous gang. He was nicknamed the “kangaroo bandit,” having been captured on CCTV stuffing cash into a backpack worn on his chest. He says he robbed over 100 banks across California between 1999 and 2001. He eventually turned himself in and served nine years in prison after pleading guilty to six robberies. He now works as a life coach and motivational speaker, helping newly released prisoners reintegrate into society. He’s also a partner in two production companies.

Atsushi Onami or better known as Wakatakakage climbed the top Division Rankings of Sumo Wrestling in a decent pace. Winning championships in the Makusita and Juryo Division, he also have two special prizes (technique) under his belt. He prefers migi-yotsu (right hand inside, left hand outside) grip on his opponent’s mawashi and uses his speed and agility inside the ring. He underperformed this last July Basho but I’m sure he will bounce back in the next tournament.

Kinboshi (金星, lit: gold star) is a notation used in professional sumo wrestling to record a lower-ranked (maegashira) wrestler’s victory over a yokozuna. Ichinojo, a Mongolian professional Sumo wrestler hold the record of 8 gold stars or kinboshi among active rikishis. He has three gold stars versus Yokozuna Kisenosato, two gold stars versus Yokozuna Harumafuji and Yokozuna Kakuryu and one kinboshi against Yokozuna Hakuho.
