Kanagawa Owakudani – 大涌谷 – 4K Ultra HD
Kanagawa Owakudani – 大涌谷 – 4K Ultra HD : Owakudani is an area around a crater created during Mt Hakone’s last eruption some 3,000 years ago. Today Owakudani is still an active volcanic zone where sulfurous fumes, hot rivers and hot springs are heavily present. Despite being a very famous tourist attraction where were you can enjoy, in some safe zones, a gorgeous view of Owakudani fumes and Mt. Fuji, the place also offers you the chance to purchase eggs naturally cooked in one of Owakudani’s hot water springs. The eggshells are blackened by the sulfur and are said, according to local folklore, to prolong your life by a good seven years.
Unfortunately and as for today, Owakudani is currently closed due to an increase in seismic activity that, according to scientists, could lead to a volcanic eruption.

Tokyo Asakusa Temple / Sensō-ji -金龍山浅草寺 – 4K Ultra HD
Note : This video replace our precedent version of our Asakusa Temple / Sensō-ji coverage and comes with improved audio and tweak colors.
Tokyo Asakusa Temple / Sensō-ji -金龍山浅草寺– 4K Ultra HD – Improved Version:
By far one of Tokyo’s most popular tourist attractions, the Sensō-ji is located in heart of Tokyo: Asakusa.
The Sensō-ji is Tokyo’s oldest temple and was founded in 645. The temple is dedicated to the Bodhisattva (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodhisattva) and according to the legend the temple was erected after two fisherman found a Statue of Kannon buried in the nearby Sumida River.
Despite its popularity and ancestry the Asakusa temple has quickly become one of those cheap tourist attraction where hundreds of small crappy souvenir shops have been erected along the Nakamise street (200m) that separate the main entrance of the temple: the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) to the temple itself.
Still the Sensō-ji and its five-storied pagoda are a true architectural and cultural wonder if you don’t mind visiting an over crowded place where the spiritual beauty has slowly but surely been replaced by this century’s mercantilism.

Heda – Shizuoka – 静岡県沼津市戸田 – 4K Ultra HD
Located on the west side of the Izu peninsula, Heda is one of those small Japanese fishing villages that time seems to have left alone. Granted in Heda you will find some very impressive fishing boats alongside some rather modest ones, but the place has something hard to describe that makes it unique. It feels like a place has been left alone and cut off from the rest of Japan, making it unique and beautiful at the same time.
But Heda’s beauty is not only due to its “uniqueness”, but also comes from things like its gorgeous beach, hidden shrine and stunning view of Mt. Fuji. The combination of these things make Heda a highly recommended location to visit for anyone curious about the real Japan.

Kagurazaka – Tokyo – 神楽坂 – 4K Ultra HD
Known by many as ‘little Paris’ due to its significant French presence, Kagurazaka is in fact a very old dining district closed to Iidabashi Station. There you will find many fantastic little restaurants, French or not, as well as some upscale restaurants and ryotei hidden in the many, small backstreets.
Besides its many restaurants and French community, another of Kagurazaka’s unique particularities is that the flow of traffic in its main, one-way street, switches from one direction to the opposite one, depending on the hour of the day. The reason for that, according to many people living in Tokyo, is due to the many visits of a former Japanese Prime Minister to his mistress, who was living in the area. It was decided at that time to change the street direction in order to ease the comings and goings of the Prime Minister to and from her house.

Tsukudajima – Tokyo – 佃島 – 4K Ultra HD
Tokyo Tsukudajima – 佃島 – 4K Ultra HD : Located on the north part of Tsukishima 月島 or the “moon island” , Tsukudajima was an island of its own and separated from Tsukishima over 100 years ago. But due to the construction in Tokyo bay, the local authorities decided to redraw Tokyo’s coastline by joining several island together.
Tsukudajima is perhaps better known now for its residential high complexes and huge elementary school. Thankfully though, you can still find some old remnants of Tsukudajima and its pier, next to the Sumiyoshi Shrine and Moriinari Shrine with what is now a small L waterway connecting the old village to the Sumida River. Additionally there is also a splendid view of Tokyo Skytree.
Frozen in time Tsukudajima will give you a taste of what Tokyo’s small fishing village used to be, and if you have a bit of time please stretch you legs along the Sumida river and enjoy a breathtaking view!
