Close to Asakusa and by the banks of the Kanda River, the Asahi Beer Hall and Tokyo Skytree are some of the best-known buildings in Tokyo. Completed in 1989 and designed by Philippe Starck, the Asahi Beer Hall, which actually happens to be the Asahi Breweries Japan HQ, is made of a building shaped like a glass of beer with foam on its top. Right by its side, you will find another construction, also part of the Asahi Beer Hall, better known as the “golden turd” (Nickname given to the Asahi Flame by locals).
While the Asahi Beer Hall does not offer much to see to tourists wishing to learn more about the brand, you can, however, visit the 22nd floor of the building where you will find two of Tokyo’s most popular bars a and wide selection of beers.
Erected more recently (2012), Tokyo Skytree, is a joint construction between Tobu Railway, taking care of the commercial and tourist aspect of the tower and NHK who use the tower as a huge antenna in order to cover most of Tokyo area with its Digital Terrestrial TV services.
Tall enough to give you a bird’s eye view of Tokyo, it is best to visit Skytree in winter (December to February) when Tokyo’s sky is the clearest. Frankly speaking, Tokyo Tower offers the best view around!

Tsukishima – Tokyo – 月島 – 4K Ultra HD
Back in 2015, we published a video of one of Tokyo’s latest traditional fishing pier/villages: Tsukudajima. Today we decided to shoot another video of the area and more precisely about Tsukishima itself, the island made from reclaimed land (1892) which Tsukudajima now belongs to.
Surrounded by the Kanda River, Tsukishima gives you a unique perspective of what an old suburb of Tokyo feels like. But, unlike other Tokyo suburbs, Tsukishima is famous for its Monjayaki which happen to be your average Okonomiyaki with added dashi (base ingredient of Japanese Miso soup) in its batter.
Tsukishima gives you the possibility to get a unique view of Tsukiji market pier, which is just on the other side of the river.

Ikebukuro – Tokyo – 池袋 – 4K Ultra HD
Located around the northwestern corner of the Yamanote line, Ikebukuro is one of Tokyo’s many city centers with over million passengers commuting daily via its main station. Stuck between two of Japan’s biggest store franchises Tobu and Seibu, Ikebukuro has many things to offer ranging from nice stores and restaurants to other activities.
While not as popular as Akihabara for example, Ikebukuro is, however, an important hub for the female otaku culture with many “butler cafes” as well as many stores dedicated to the anime, manga and cosplay scenes.

Lots of Practical Effects in Guardians of the Galaxy
Despite most modern filmmaking relying heavily on CGI, Guardians of the Galaxy used a lot of real practical effects. There has been a push lately to use more real effects in movies like The Fate of the Furious and Mad Max: Fury Road. There’s a long proud history in Hollywood of creating amazing effects.

Taketomi Island beaches – Okinawa – 竹富島 – 4K Ultra HD
Okinawa is not a single island but a group of islands, with at its center the island of Okinawa which is the largest island of them all. An hour away or so by plan from the main island you will find, next to Ishigaki island a smaller island named Taketomi, a tiny 5.42 km2 island with only 323 inhabitants! Taketomi is popular among Japanese tourists not only for its traditional Okinawan houses with sandy streets and stone walls, but also for its amazing beaches and for its “hoshisuna” or star-sand wich are in fact remains of Foraminifera a kind of amoeba!
