Founded in 1600 by Date Masamune who also happen to have its mausoleum Zuihoden near the city center. Sendai features some of Tohoku’s most famous festivals like for the Tanabata Matsuri. Entsuin Temple – Miyagi – 円通院 – 4K Ultra HD
Build in 1646 in the heart of Matsushima city and nearby the majestic Zuiganji Temple, Entsuin is the actual mausoleum of Date Mitsumune, the son of the ruling local feudal lord Date Terumune who died at age 19 under strange circumstances that have yet been determined.
Entsuin temple is divided in two main parts with both a Japanese and Western style garden. Entsuin’s main hall is Mitsumune’s original summer residence in Edo which now Tokyo.

Construit en 1646 dans le coeur de la ville de Matsushima et tout près du majestueux temple Zuiganji, Entsuin est le mausolée de Date Mitsumune, le fils du dirigeant féodal local Date Terumune, mort à l’âge de 19 ans dans de troubles circonstances.
Le temple Entsuin est divisé en deux parties principales faisant cohabiter un jardin japonais et un jardin de style occidental. On y trouve également comme hall principal la résidence d’été d’origine de Mitsumune à Edo (ancien nom de Tokyo) avant sa mort, qui fut ensuite déménagée à Matsushima par son père.

Karakuri puppet – からくり人形 – 4K Ultra HD
Karakuri puppets, or in Japanese Karakuri Ningyō (からくり人形) are traditional Japanese mechanized automate wonders made originally from the 17th and up to 19th century. Where the word Karakuri stands for “trick” or “mechanisms” in Japanese, these incredible automata were only designed for pure entertainment. Entirely built in wood and powered by weights of by wound springs where each actions of our little puppet are controlled by a set of cams and levers.
All in all three main types of Karakuri exist and this depending of where the puppet will be used. The Butai Karakuri or stage karakuri were mainly used in theaters, while the Zashiki Karakuri (video above) were smaller puppets mainly used in homes. And finally the Dashi Karakuri, still used nowadays, are puppets used to perform reenactments of traditional myths and legends used during religious festivals.

Zuihoden – Miyagi – 瑞鳳殿 – 4K Ultra HD
Located in near the city of Sendai in Miyagi prefecture, Zuihoden is a mausoleum for Date Masamune, one of the most powerful feudal lords of the Edo Period. He was one of the first in a long line of Date lords to rule over Sendai from Aoba Castle which has been transformed into a magnificent park. Date Masamune and his son Date Tadamune have both found their resting place in Zuihoden, where the Date Masamune mausoleum is the centerpiece of Zuihoden.
Following the Momoyama Period style, Zuihode mausoleums are designed with rich intricate woodwork features and vivid colors.
