Yubikan – Miyagi – 有備館 – 4K Ultra HD

Yubikan, located in Miyagi, consists of a small, yet gorgeous house surrounded by a pleasant garden and pond. Unfortunately, Yubikan was totally destroyed by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. Originally built in 1677 as a retreat for Munetoshi the second-generation head of the Iwadeyama Date Family. Yubikan was built in the traditional Japanese style of architecture (shoin-zukuri) with a thatched, hipped roof. It is only several years later that Yubikan was used as a school until it was decided to turn this beautiful house and garden into a small museum.

Yamadera – Yamagata – 山寺 – 4K Ultra HD

Located in the northeast mountains of Yamagata City, and in the prefecture of the same name, Yamadera is a scenic temple sitting on a cliff and offering a stunning view of its surrounding valley. Yamadera was founded in 860 and belongs to the Rissakuji Sect, also known as the Tendai Sect.

Yamadera has been made famous by its unique past and location. The temple was founded by one of the most important Buddhist priests in the Tohoku Region; Jikaku Daishi. It was also often visited by the famous Japanese poet Basho who apparently composed one of his most enduring haiku there.

While Yamadera’s main hall, Konponchudo Hall, is located at the base of the mountain, the Okuno-In, Shozo and famous Godaido Hall with its unique view over the valley are all located on top of the mountain.

Unfortunately, being a victim of its own success as well as the being slightly disfigured by the many electric cables and poles erected on the temple grounds is in total disrespect of the natural wonder of the area. Yamadera today does not necessarily reflect how amazing this place used to be.

Why Tattoos Last Forever

Tattoos have developed a varied form of expression across the world, but the science behind their everlasting-presence is even more fascinating. Ink flows down the needles when they pierce the epidermis. Once the ink is inside the skin, the body’s immune system can’t ingest it, leaving the tattoo to stay.

Osaki Hachimangu Shrine – Miyagi – 大崎八幡宮 – 4K Ultra HD

Located in Sendai city in Miyagi, Osaki Hachimangu Shrine was built in 1607 by Date Masamune himself, and yes, the same Date Masamune buried in Zuihoden Mausoleum!
The shrine of the Hachiman deity, or the Shinto god of war, Hachiman is also considered as both the guardian and protector of Sendai City.

The main building consists of an Hoden or main hall, as well as an Haidenor offering hall. Both are joined under a common roof covered in Date’s unique architectural style including black lacquer, gold leaf, and brilliant colors!

[Drone] Noboribetsu Jigokudani – Hokkaido – 登別地獄谷 – 4K Ultra HD

Jigokudani or Hell Valley is one of the most stunning scenic areas of Noboribetsu in southern Hokkaido. Located just above the Noboribetsu Onsen village, Jigokudani displays hot steam vents, sulfurous streams, and other volcanic activity. It’s the main source of water for the Onsen village! While beautiful all year long, it is, however, during autumn that Jigokudani is at its best!

This video was originally made and paid for by Navitime Japan. We are pleased to share this video today with you all. If you are planning to visit Japan, please check out the Navitime Website and mobile Apps.
