How Holland Came Out as K-Pop’s First Openly Gay Idol | Rainbow Guide to Life

K-pop star, Holland, is commonly referred to as the ‘first gay k-pop idol’ in the media. He debuted as a solo artist in 2018, with his single, Neverland, where he featured a same-sex kissing scene in the music video. In South Korea, a country where protections for LGBTQ rights are limited and discrimination against LGBTQ folks is still rife, Holland’s coming out is considered a massive step for queer representation in his home country.

In this episode of Rainbow Guide to Life, Holland speaks to us about his coming out story, and meets with Shade Seoul, an underground crew in Korea who sets themselves apart by carving safe spaces for the community.
