How Syed Saddiq and the Undi18 Movement Are Changing the Political Landscape in Malaysia | Influence

Syed Saddiq is a 28-year-old politician from Muar. He has millions of followers across his social media accounts and has leveraged this influence to create policy change in Malaysia – lowering the voting age from 21 to 18 with the Undi18 bill. Saddiq teamed up with a grassroots, student-led initiative, Undi18, to successfully advocate and reduce the minimum voting age. However, even though the amendment was passed, it has yet to be enacted. Needless to say, young people are not happy. Saddiq believes that when change finally comes, young people will become the kingmakers for future general elections in Malaysia.
